Coastal living: bringing the coastal feeling into your home

We don't live on the water all year round (unfortunately). But that feeling; that tranquility, that light, that air, we love to take it with us everywhere. Even home.
Coastal living is not about shells on the windowsill or an anchor on the wall. It's about atmosphere, about color schemes and about materials. Quality, sustainability and design, combined in such a way that you have a holiday feeling all year round. How lovely to come home after a hard day's work and imagine yourself on the coast of Ibiza, or in a luxurious boutique hotel in Portugal or Southern Spain.
This is how we bring the coast indoors. The real sea vibes.
Start with the colors — combine, but do it subtly
Sand, off-white, deep blue, muted green. No bright maritime colors, no vivid red and cobalt blue. Or yes, that's allowed, but as an accent, here and there. We often choose the tranquility of the coast. A mint green or light pink can also come across as very Mediterranean. Think of the light of early morning on the water. That's the color palette that works.
Choose honest materials
Teak, linen, raw ceramics, washed cotton. Materials that improve with age. Not an excess, but here and there an eye-catcher or a coastal piece of coral, or a distinctive wooden object. Above all, it doesn't have to be perfect. The most beautiful thing about the coast is that it never tries to be new. Combine with distinct details such as the gleam of a nautical instrument. Refine with accents of seagrass, rattan, weathered woods, or fresh teak.
Bring the outside in
A patio chair at the dining table. An outdoor lantern on the side table. Products that are made for outdoors but are good enough for indoors. Blurring that boundary is precisely the feeling it's all about.
One object that tells the story
A ship's clock. A barometer. A compass under a glass dome. Not as decoration; as character. One object that says where your heart lies, without you having to explain it. And that brings your thoughts back to the sea at home.
Leave space — literally
Coast is space. Horizon. Not a cluttered room. Remove what isn't necessary. What remains counts double. You don't get the coastal feeling from a catalog. You get it from choices. Small, conscious choices that together create one feeling.
