Adjust the indicator needle to the barometer needle after each reading. Hang it indoors, away from direct sunlight and not above a heat source.

The A104B is an aneroid barometer with an open dial, allowing you to see the mechanism working as you read the air pressure. The Hi-Sensitive mechanism magnifies the needle movement 1.5 times, making an initial pressure change visible sooner. The light ivory dial is set in a mirror-polished 18/10 stainless steel housing and operates without power.

Adjust the indicator needle to the barometer needle after each reading. Hang it indoors, away from direct sunlight and not above a heat source.

• How do you read a barometer?
A barometer indicates the current atmospheric pressure. For a weather forecast, look at the difference compared to the previous reading and how quickly the pressure has changed. Rapid pressure changes indicate short-term weather changes; slow changes indicate longer-lasting changes in the weather.

• Where should I hang my barometer?
Atmospheric pressure is the same everywhere, but avoid places in direct sunlight or above a heat source such as a heater. A prominent spot on the boat or in the house ensures that you notice pressure changes immediately.

• How do I calibrate my barometer?
Most barometers are calibrated at the factory. You can look up the current atmospheric pressure online and, if necessary, adjust the needle using a small screw on the back of the mechanical barometer. We are happy to help with any questions!

• Does a barometer work at any altitude?
Barometers are set to sea level. A few floors in a building usually do not make a difference, but for use at higher altitudes, such as in the mountains, calibration is required.

Particularities

This instrument is set to sea level by default and is accurate up to approximately 800–900 meters in altitude. Would you like to use the instrument at a higher altitude? Please indicate this in advance — for an additional charge, we will calibrate the instrument to your location. Hi-Sensitive mechanism: the needle moves 1.5× further than on a standard barometer. Open dial: the mechanism remains visible.
