Air that's too dry is bad for woodwork, furniture, and your comfort. Excessively humid weather causes condensation, mold, and a clammy feeling. Especially on board or in a vacation home, you don't want to guess; you want to know what the humidity is doing.

This 103H hygrometer is a synthetic hair hygrometer in a 165 mm polished brass or chrome-plated brass housing. Behind the mineral glass, you can read the humidity from 0 to 100% relative humidity , with a fine 1% scale. With an accuracy of ±3% RH (20–100%) + 1 scale division, you can monitor the indoor climate precisely.

The hygrometer is designed for indoor use : perfect for the cabin, wheelhouse, saloon, living room, or office. Its classic nautical design makes it a perfect fit for any maritime interior. Combine it with the matching 103PM barometer, 103PMU clock, 103PMT thermometer, and 103PMTD tide clock for a complete and stylish instrument panel.

This way, you can see at a glance whether it is better to ventilate, heat, or dehumidify – and you protect both yourself and your interior against a poor indoor climate.

Is this hygrometer suitable for outdoor use?
No, this hygrometer is only intended for indoor use. Hang it in the cabin, saloon, living room, hallway, or office, not outside in all weather conditions.

How accurate is the hygrometer?
The measurement accuracy is ±3% relative humidity (20–100%) + 1 division. This is more than sufficient to clearly see whether the air is too dry, too humid, or comfortable.

What exactly does a hygrometer measure?
A hygrometer measures relative humidity as a percentage (% RH). This tells you whether the air inside is within the ideal range (usually around 40–60% RH).

Does this hygrometer run on batteries?
No, this is a mechanical device with synthetic hair as a sensor. It doesn't require batteries or electricity.

Where is the best place to hang the hygrometer?
On an interior wall, not against a cold exterior wall
Out of direct sunlight
Not above a radiator, heater or dehumidifier
Not right next to a door or window that opens and closes frequently

Does it match other nautical instruments?
Yes, this hygrometer is part of a series that includes a matching barometer, clock, thermometer, and tide clock. Ideal if you want a single, stylish maritime instrument panel.

1. Placement for reliable measurements

After hanging, allow the hygrometer some time (a few hours) to adjust to the room.
Hang it in a place where air can circulate freely.
Avoid areas with extreme condensation (directly in the bathroom or above the stove).

2. Cleaning the housing

Brass version:
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaners as these may cause scratches.

3. Glass and dial
Use a microfiber cloth to gently clean the mineral glass.
Never spray cleaner directly onto the glass, but first onto the cloth.
Avoid scouring pads or paper towels, which can cause fine scratches.

4. General maintenance

Especially on board, check occasionally whether the wall mounting is still securely attached.
Clean the hygrometer 1–2 times a year and check that the housing and glass are clean and dry.
Combine the hygrometer with a thermometer and barometer for a complete picture of your indoor climate.
