Your best friend for on-board comfort, the thermo-hygrometer
On a boat, humidity constantly changes due to seawater vapor, rain, and condensation. This is precisely why a comfort meter is so useful. This instrument combines a thermometer and hygrometer with a clear comfort zone indicator, allowing you to see at a glance whether the climate in the cabin or living space is pleasant.
At Studio Maritime, you will find comfortable and stylishly designed comfort meters that are not only practical to use but also fit beautifully into a maritime interior. If you prefer a separate thermometer or hygrometer for a more specific measurement, you will, of course, also find those in our collection.
A good indoor climate helps prevent mold and moisture problems and contributes to more comfort on board and at home. This way, you always have a better view of temperature and humidity, precisely where it matters.

to prevent moisture damage and keep the indoor climate comfortable.
A hygrometer measures the relative humidity of ambient air, such as in a room or the cabin of a boat. This is the humidity of the atmospheric air at that specific location. The measured values can differ significantly from the humidity of the air outside. Unlike barometric pressure, which remains the same both indoors and outdoors, relative humidity indoors can vary considerably depending on the conditions. A good humidity level is between 50% and 60%.
You can purchase a thermometer and hygrometer separately or as a single combined instrument. It measures temperature and humidity separately and provides precise readings. You can determine whether the combination of temperature and humidity is comfortable.
A comfort meter measures the same data but combines them to provide an immediate visual indication of the comfort level. This is displayed in the comfort zone on the instrument, where you can see, for example, whether it's too dry, too humid, too warm, or just comfortable. Comfort meters are user-friendly and offer immediate insight, while thermo- and hygrometers focus on providing individual measurement data.
At Studio Maritime, you can buy both individual instruments and combined comfort meters. If in doubt, ask us for advice.
Both instruments are useful: a thermometer monitors the temperature, while a hygrometer helps control humidity. For limited space, a comfort meter (a combination thermometer and hygrometer) is a practical solution.
Our thermometers are not only durable but also designed to perform under maritime conditions. Hang them inside your home or cabin for optimal performance – this way you can measure the interior temperature, which is important for maintaining equipment, the interior, and the crew's well-being.
Most thermometers in our nautical range operate using a bimetal mechanism, where metals expand or contract with temperature changes, ensuring accurate temperature measurements. And because they are high-quality, they are not only functional but also a stylish addition to your home, camper, or vacation home.
A hygrometer measures humidity, essential for preventing moisture problems, for example on a boat where cushions and electronics are susceptible to mold and corrosion. A hygrometer also helps in the home.

climate.
To ensure accurate measurements, it's important to readjust the hygrometer regularly, especially if the instrument has been exposed to very dry air for extended periods. We recommend performing this adjustment every 3 to 4 months. This ensures the hygrometer remains reliable and accurate in displaying relative humidity.
A hygrometer is easy to calibrate by
Wrap the instrument in a plastic bag with a damp sponge for half an hour. Immediately after removing the instrument from the bag, it should indicate approximately 98%. Immediately dry the housing with a dry, dust-free cloth.
Humidity refers to the percentage of water vapor present in the air at any given time. A healthy (relative) humidity is between 40% and 60%, meaning the air is made up of 40% to 60% water vapor. The ideal humidity level on a boat and indoors is around 50%.
On a boat, the ideal humidity level is also around 50%, but it can vary depending on the conditions. Due to the constant presence of water and changing weather conditions, humidity on board can fluctuate rapidly. It's important to find a balance between 40% and 60% to maintain both comfort and a healthy indoor climate, and prevent problems like mold or condensation.
