Een goede teak stoel gaat wel twintig jaar mee. Het canvas niet. Zon, zout en regen doen hun werk, en op een gegeven moment is het doek verkleurd of doorgesleten terwijl het frame nog helemaal in orde is. Dan hoef je geen nieuwe stoel te kopen. Of je bent op zoek naar een nieuw dessign.
In deze collectie vind je vervangende canvassen, kussensets en zittingen voor regisseursstoelen, teak dekstoelen, klapstoelen en krukken. Los verkrijgbaar of als complete set, in kleuren die aansluiten bij het origineel of juist bewust anders, een nieuw canvas is ook een makkelijke manier om een oude stoel er weer bij te laten horen.
Let op de maat. Canvassen en zittingen zijn model gebonden: de breedte, de zoom afwerking en de manier van bevestigen verschillen per stoel. Bij elk product staat vermeld op welk model het past. Twijfel je, meet dan de breedte van het zitvlak en de lengte van de rugleuning op, en vergelijk die met de specificaties. Kom je er niet uit, stuur ons een foto van de bevestiging, dan kijkt Susan met je mee.
Teakolie: een keuze, geen verplichting. Teak dat je met rust laat vergrijst langzaam naar een zilvergrijze tint, en dat is geen slijtage maar patina. Het hout blijft even sterk en het is precies het beeld dat bij de kust hoort. Veel eigenaren doen bewust niets, en dat is een volstrekt legitieme keuze.
Wil je de warme honingkleur behouden, dan kan dat met teakolie, maar dan is het wel een afspraak met jezelf. Buiten spoelt en verweert de olie eruit, dus reken op minstens één behandeling per seizoen, bij intensief gebruik of veel zon twee. Sla je een jaar over, dan krijg je een ongelijkmatig beeld dat lastiger te herstellen is dan wanneer je nooit was begonnen. Je kunt bij ons teak olie los bestellen, zodat je het gewoon in het voorjaar kunt doen als je toch aan het opknappen bent.

Teak dat je met rust laat vergrijst naar een zilvergrijze tint en blijft
even sterk. Dat is patina, geen slijtage. Oliën is puur een kwestie van jouw smaak voor kleur: wil je de warme honingtint houden, dan olie je. Doe je niets, dan slijt het meubel niet eerder, het verkleurt alleen natuurlijk.
Buiten spoelt en verweert de olie eruit, dus reken op minstens één keer per seizoen, bij veel zon of intensief gebruik twee. Sla je een jaar over, dan krijg je een ongelijkmatig beeld dat lastiger te herstellen is dan wanneer je nooit was begonnen. Het voorjaar is het logische moment, als je toch aan het opknappen bent.
Meestal wel, maar dan moet het hout eerst gereinigd worden om de grijze toplaag weg te halen. Dat is meer werk dan bijhouden. Bedenk vooraf of je het daarna ook echt elk seizoen gaat doen.
