Choose a flat card if you mount the compass at eye level and a conical one if you are viewing it from an angle or from above. Check each season that the bracket is still securely fastened with no play.

The C12 is a bracket-mount compass with an 85 mm card and 5° graduations, built for lifeboats and workboats and just as suitable for a motorboat or sailboat. With the adjustable bracket, you can mount it on the deck, dashboard, bulkhead, or ceiling, and the liquid-filled card with universal balance works in all sailing regions without adjustment. Choose a black or white housing, a flat or conical card, and a black or blue compass rose.

• Can I install this compass myself?
